The adapter is completely sealed with epoxy, protecting internal components from shock, vibration, dust, and water ingress. It also filters voltage spikes and surges on the input line to help protect connected devices from potential electrical damage. Electrical isolation between the input and output helps prevent ground loops and allows the output to be used as a negative voltage when required.
